TempoSense
A live tempo detector for the room — point it at the band or the DJ and read the BPM, the ÷2 / ÷4 / ÷8 layers and the delay times without tapping.
On this page
TempoSense listens to what is playing right now — laptop mic, phone, or a line feed from the desk — and shows the tempo as one big number. Under it sit the ÷2 / ÷4 / ÷8 layers and the full delay-time table, already worked out. No tapping, no typing. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox it can also send that tempo on as MIDI.
Who it is for
- Lighting operators who want the DJ's or the band's tempo as layered movement: strobes on the beat, a chase at ÷2, movers at ÷4.
- FOH and monitor engineers who need delay times for the song that is playing now, or a controller into the delay plugin.
- DJs, MDs and bands who want the tempo before they mix in or count in, or want to hand it to BPM Forge for a click.
What makes it different
- Four detectors plus Auto. Transient, Groove, Low-end and Harmonic; Auto follows the clearest beat.
- Built for octave errors. A range pill decides whether 345 ms is 174 or 87 BPM; ½× / 2× fix the rest in one tap.
- Raw input. It asks the browser for the unprocessed signal and tells you when the browser did not honour that.
- Bar tracking. Beat 1 on four dots, settable by hand, so the ÷4 pulse is a true bar pulse.
- MIDI out. Tempo and delay time as controllers, beat pulses as notes, MIDI clock — with setups for Ableton, LiveProfessor, grandMA and ChamSys.
- Nothing leaves the device. All analysis runs in the browser.
