Add named cues, audio markers and a rehearsal loop
Named cues along the song, audio markers on the click side under the click's level, and a loop for the bars that need work.
On this page
The Markers panel holds cues, audio markers and the loop. All of it is saved with the song.
Cues
- Click the waveform where you want the cue (the cursor is the white line).
- Press Set cue. The cue snaps to the nearest beat and appears on the waveform and in the list.
- Type a name into the list — "Chorus", "Solo", "Half-time". The name shows on the waveform, in the export's WAV markers, in the MIDI tempo map and in the CSV.
Each entry has a Remove cue control; Clear all cues removes them all.
Markers with audio
An audio marker plays a file at a point in the song — a spoken "chorus in two", a count, a stab.
- Place the cursor where the marker should fire. During playback the cursor is the play position, so you can also press the button while listening.
- Press + Add marker at cursor & attach audio and choose the file.
- In a WAV export it goes onto the click side, a little under the click's
level so it never clips. In a zip export it gets its own
CUESfile.
Could not decode that audio means the browser cannot read that file —
export it as WAV or MP3 and try again. Audio markers are not saved with the
song (the audio stays on your machine); add them again after reopening.
The rehearsal loop
Drag a region on the waveform to set a loop. It snaps to the beat grid,
so the loop starts and ends on beats. The status line shows
Loop: 1:40 – 1:48; playback then cycles the region until you press
Stop. Change the loop while it plays and it restarts on the new edges.
A loop that fits on screen holds still while it plays — only the playhead
moves.
To remove the loop, press Clear loop ✕ next to the transport (it is there whenever a loop is set), press L with the waveform focused, or use Clear loop under Markers. All three do the same.
With the waveform focused you can also press I for loop in and O for loop out at the cursor.
Thanks for the feedback.
