Multiple devices & accounts

Running the show from several of your own devices, sharing to someone else, and what happens when two accounts are involved.

  3. Case C — a viewer on several devices
  4. Quick reference

This is the part people ask about most, so here are the exact cases: running the show from several of your own devices, sharing to someone else, and what happens when two different accounts are involved.

Case A — one account, several devices

Example: you run the show on a laptop at FOH and also have it open on your phone in your pocket, both signed in to the same account.

  • Your timetables sync between all devices signed in to that account, timetable by timetable: a timetable made on the phone appears on the laptop, and deleting or renaming one sticks on every device.
  • Slot edits are merged per slot: if you change the headliner on the laptop and someone changes the changeover on the tablet, both edits stay. Only two changes to the same thing at nearly the same moment are decided by last write wins.
  • The live state of each timetable — the current slot, the delay, the cue, blackout and stage messages — follows on your other devices within a few seconds. Either device can drive the show.
  • Some settings stay on each device on purpose: theme, text size, the warning time, the projector view, the clock mode and which timetable is open. The FOH laptop and the projector PC can show different things.
  • Offline, each device keeps working on its own copy and syncs when it is back online (see Working offline).

This is the intended setup for "the SM has it on the tablet, I have it at the desk." One account, as many of your own devices as you like.

The sync badge

The operator screen shows a small badge only when something has not reached your account:

Badge What it means
Not synced Changes are saved on this device and go up as soon as the account can be reached.
Not synced — storage full Your account storage is full; the latest changes are on this device only.
Sign in again to sync Your session ended. Changes stay on this device; tap to reload and sign in.
Sync off Cross-device sync is off for this account; everything stays on this device.
Other account — reload Another tab signed in as a different account. Reload this tab.

No badge means everything is synced. While the device is offline the badge stays quiet — the Offline pill already says so.

A shared computer

On a computer that several people use, Show Clock never mixes two accounts: the timetables on screen always belong to the account that is signed in. When someone else signs in, their timetables load, not yours.

Case B — Account A shares to Account B (or to anyone)

Example: you (Account A) are the operator; the band, FOH or a guest opens your share link — whether they have their own account (Account B) or no account at all.

  • They open the share link and get the read-only view. They see your times, delay, cues and whatever the link allows (live clock, riders, cue notes).
  • They cannot edit the show, cannot advance slots, and are not a second operator.
  • Having their own account (Account B) makes no difference to what a share link shows — the link is public and read-only by design.
  • Account B's own Show Clock timetables are completely separate. Opening your link does not mix your show into their account or vice versa.
  • There is no way to hand operator control to another account. Running the show from two places means one account on several devices (Case A) — or a control link for a Stream Deck or Companion.

To check what your viewers see, use the Operator / Viewer toggle on tablet and desktop.

Case C — a viewer on several devices

A viewer can open the same share link on as many devices as they like; each just follows along. Nothing to configure. A phone that has opened the live link once reopens it without signal, with the last version it received.

Quick reference

You want to… Do this
Run the show from two of your own devices Sign in to the same account on both — they sync (Case A)
Let the band / FOH / audience follow Send them the share link — read-only (Case B)
Press Next from a Stream Deck or another computer Use a control link — Remote control (Stream Deck, Companion, OSC)
Preview the viewer yourself Use the Operator / Viewer toggle

Cross-device sync uses your account's server storage (50 MB per account, 10 MB per document — see Account sync). It needs a connection — see Working offline for what happens when it drops.
