Troubleshooting
An empty Results tab, RT60 that seems wrong, a live meter that will not start, venue profiles that did not sync, and print output that looks off.
| Symptom | Likely cause & fix |
|---|---|
| Results tab says No data yet | It needs room dimensions and an SPL reference. Fill in Room Dimensions on the Room Modes tab and a level on the SPL tab. |
| Modes look wrong or clustered | Two dimensions are equal or simple multiples. That is the room, not the tool — the L : W : H badge explains. Check you entered internal clear dimensions in metres. |
| RT60 much higher than I hear in the room | Surfaces are still on the default hard materials, or the audience is set to 0. Assign real materials and add the audience. It is an estimate either way. |
| A coefficient shows [ASSUMED] | No published value exists for that material at that band; RoomSense interpolated and says so. |
| Live LUFS meter will not start | The browser needs microphone permission first. Grant it, then pick the device from Input Device and press Start. |
| Live meter reads a few dB low | The meter is single-channel; a stereo programme reads below a full stereo meter. It is a relative check, not a calibrated one. |
| Damage timer results look far apart | NIOSH (3 dB) and OSHA (5 dB) are different rules and diverge quickly above 90 dB. Both are correct for their own standard. |
| Hearing-protection result lower than the NRR on the box | Intended. The rating is derated per NIOSH because real fit is worse than lab fit. |
| Venue profile missing on another device | Both devices must be signed in to the same account and online. Reload. A toast venue changes are on this device only means the last sync failed. See Account sync. |
| Import did nothing | The file must be a JSON export from RoomSense. Re-export from the source device and try again. |
| Dim mode came back on | It is remembered per account. Toggle ◐ off; the choice syncs. |
| Printed A5 sheet is cut off | Choose A5 in the browser's print dialog and disable headers and footers. |
| "?" tip stays open | Tap anywhere outside it or press Esc. |
When a measurement disagrees with the prediction
Trust the measurement. RoomSense works from a rectangular model, published coefficients and the numbers you typed; a real room has doors, balconies, coupled volumes and furniture. Use the prediction to know what to look for, then let REW or Smaart tell you what is actually there.
Thanks for the feedback.
