Export and share the plot

PDF for the rider, PNG for the chat, a .stageplot.json file for the archive, and share links the venue opens with no account.

Everything leaves through File → Export and File → Share.

Export PDF

  1. File → Export → Export PDF.
  2. The dialog lets you choose what to include — the input list and the DMX patch list among them. The plot itself is always included.
  3. Press Export. The PDF downloads.

The plan is captured at the stage's true proportions, and the stage dimensions you entered are printed beside it. Show info — event, venue, date, load-in / soundcheck / show times, band logo and contact — comes from Band → Show info & logo. Elements on a hidden layer, and any element with include in tech rider unticked, stay out of the PDF.

Other exports

  • Export PNG — the canvas as an image, for the group chat.
  • Export to file (.stageplot.json) — the whole plot as a file. This is your backup outside the browser and the way to hand a plot to someone for editing. Bring one back with File → Import from file (.stageplot.json); the tool asks before loading a file written by a newer version.
  • Send tech rider (PDF + link) — generates the PDF and a share link in one step.

Both share actions mint a short link of the form …/share/stage-plot-generator/<token>, with a QR code and a Copy link button. You need to be signed in and online to create one.

  • Share view-only link — for the venue. Anyone with the link sees the plot; no account, no licence, nothing to install. Rotation, editing and the menu bar are disabled for them.
  • Share a copy (bandmates) — the same read-only view, but a signed-in recipient who owns the tool also gets Open a copy in the editor. That loads the plot into their own editor as a working copy; their own autosaved work is untouched until they save.

A link is a snapshot of the plot as it was when you shared it. Later edits stay in your editor — share again to send an update. Links are set to expire after 360 days, and an account can hold 50 at a time; delete old ones from your account page when you hit the limit. If the band logo is too large for the share payload the plot is shared without it.

Older #state= links from earlier versions still open, but the app no longer produces them.

A share is a snapshot, not a live document. If the venue must see a change, send a new link. This is deliberate: the venue sees the plot you sent them, not whatever you were editing at 2 a.m.
