Working offline

Show Clock is a Progressive Web App (PWA) with an offline cache, so the operator side keeps working when the venue Wi-Fi drops. The clock never depends on the network to keep time — it uses the device's own clock.

What works offline

• Viewing and editing your rundowns — everything is stored locally in the browser.
• The clock keeps ticking; advancing slots, applying offsets and operator cues all work.
• Importing and exporting files.

What pauses offline

• Cross-device sync pauses. Changes you make offline are saved locally and pushed up the next time you are online. The top bar shows an Offline indicator; when you reconnect it re-syncs, with a "back online" toast.
• Live share links cannot load while offline — a live ?s= link needs to reach the server to fetch the current state. A snapshot ?c= link, by contrast, contains the whole show in the URL and will open without a server, but it will not update.
• Weather / sunset readouts need internet and go quiet offline.

Practical guidance for a real gig

• Operator device — safe offline; it never depends on the network to keep time. Run the show as normal; it re-syncs later.
• Flaky venue Wi-Fi — hand out a snapshot link or QR before the show as a fallback; it opens with no signal. For live offset / cue updates you need connectivity on both ends.
• Editing on two devices — remember last-write-wins applies when they both reconnect; the newest change wins. Avoid editing the same field on two devices at once.

Installing as an app

On phone or tablet, use Add to Home Screen to install Show Clock. It then launches fullscreen, respects the notch / safe areas, and runs offline like a native app. Full install instructions live on the install page.

Keeping the app up to date

The app caches its own files so it loads instantly and works offline. When a new version ships, the cache updates in the background and the new version comes in on the next full reload.
