Troubleshooting
Refused channel numbers, pairs that will not pair, a strip that will not update, an import that lands elsewhere, sync notices and export errors.
| Symptom | Likely cause & fix |

| Channel N is already in use. | Two rows cannot share a channel. Free the number first, or use Insert channel above to shift rows down. |
| All 64 channels are in use. | The grid is full. Remove rows you do not need. |
| ST does nothing, or asks to move the channel | A pair must start on a free odd channel with the next even channel free. Accept the offered move, or renumber the row yourself. |
| Banner: stereo L on an even channel / stereo R on an odd channel | A channel number was edited by hand and broke the pair's parity. Renumber so L is odd and R is the next even channel. |
| Banner: stereo partner missing on the adjacent channel | One half of a pair was moved or removed. Put it back on the adjacent channel, or tap ST to unpair. |
| Strip name does not follow the source any more | You edited it by hand, so it stays. Clear the field to return to automatic. |
| Colour or low cut did not change when I retyped the source | You had overridden that field; overrides win. Set it by hand. |
| Source name gets no colour | The recogniser did not find an instrument word in it. Set the colour by hand, or include a word it knows (Kick, Vox, Git, Keys…). |
| Imported rows landed on different channels | Their channel numbers were already taken, so they moved to the next free ones; the import summary says how many. Renumber as needed. |
| Some pasted rows are missing | Rows without a source name are ignored, and rows beyond channel 64 are skipped. Lines the reader did not take as channels are listed under left out in the review — fix them in the review table or in your sheet, then paste again. |
| Insert refused: Not enough free channels below to shift | Shifting would push a row past 64. Remove or renumber rows at the bottom first. |
| The print includes the grid or the sidebar | Print from the Print button or Ctrl/⌘+P on the tool page; only the sheet is set to print. |
| Progress won't be saved in this browser mode. | The browser blocks storage (private mode or site data disabled). Edits are lost on reload; switch to a normal window. |
| Saving to your account failed — changes stay in this browser and are re-sent after your next edit. | The network dropped. Keep working; the next edit retries the save. See Account sync. |
| Not synced yet — PatchSmith cannot reach your account right now. | This copy has not heard from your account since the page opened — you are offline, or the server did not answer. Keep working: your changes stay in this browser and are merged with the account copy as soon as it answers. |
| Account sync is paused — you are signed out or your email address is not confirmed yet. | Sign in again, or confirm your email address with the link we sent you, then reload. Until then changes stay in this browser only. |
| This patch was saved by a newer PatchSmith — reload the page. | Another device saved your patches with a newer version of PatchSmith, and this tab still runs an older one. Reload. Until you do, nothing you change in this tab is saved to your account — so the newer copy is never overwritten. |
| The patch on another device is older | Make sure both devices are signed in and online, then reload the older one. See Account sync. |
| That is not an X32/M32 scene file. | The file you picked is not a .scn, or not one saved by an X32/M32 or by X32-Edit / M32-Edit. Save the scene off the desk again and pick that file. |
| None of those files is an SQ show file. | Pick NVDATA.DAT and the SCENE files from one show folder (AHSQ → SHOWS → SHOWxxxx), saved by the desk or by SQ-MixPad. Files that are not show files are named in the result and left out. |
| …this show file's layout is not one PatchSmith knows — nothing was written. | The channel names in that file are not where PatchSmith expects them — most likely a newer SQ firmware. Nothing was downloaded and your show is untouched. Name the channels on the desk, and tell us the firmware version. |
| A PDF cannot be made from this patch | The patch, or the language PatchSmith runs in, uses Japanese, Chinese or Korean characters, and the font in the PDF has none. Use Print instead — your browser has those fonts. |
| The blank console scene could not be loaded / The blank console show could not be loaded | The template file did not download — usually the connection. Try again, or start from your own scene or show. |
A pair will not go where I want it
- Note the odd channel you want it on and make sure it and the next even channel are free.
- Set the left row's Ch to that odd number.
- Tap ST. If the offer to move appears, the target was not free — check the two channels again.
The grid is hard to use on a tablet
Use the ⋯ edit card for each row — it holds every field, including stagebox, notes and DCA chips, with larger controls than the grid.
