Export the click track
Render the stereo L/R split WAV for in-ears, or two mono stems for a playback rig — and what to check before you do.
On this page
ClickSmith renders on your machine and hands you a file to save; nothing is sent anywhere. Two shapes are available.
Before you export
- Play the song through once. Beat 1 on the downbeat? Tempo map right through every change? Accents where you want them?
- Set the balance in Mix — the Song and Click levels are baked into the export, so set them to what you want to hear in the ears.
- Remove the rehearsal loop if you set one; it does not affect the render, but it saves a scare when you check the file.
Export WAV · L/R split
Press Export WAV · L/R split. The status line goes through
Rendering… and Encoding WAV… and ends with ✓ name_click_split.wav ready to download. The result is a standard stereo WAV:
- Left = the song
- Right = the click, plus every cue and audio marker
On the playback rig, send the right channel to the in-ears and the left to the PA. The band hears the click and the cues; the audience hears only the music.
Export stems (2× mono)
Press Export stems (2× mono) for two separate mono files:
name_song.wav— the songname_click.wav— the click with the cues and markers
Use this when the playback system wants its own tracks rather than a pre-split stereo file. The filenames differ from the split export, so running both does not overwrite anything.
Formats
- In: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A — up to 200 MB.
- Out: WAV, the same length as the song.
If the export fails
Export failed or Stem export failed means the render did not finish.
Rendering happens in the browser and is heavy on long files: close other
tabs, reload, load the song again and export before doing anything else.
A song is fine; a two-hour set is not what this tool is for.
The download is started by your browser, so it lands wherever that browser saves files. On a tablet, look in the Files or Downloads app.
Thanks for the feedback.
