Estimate RT60 and size the treatment
Assign a material to each surface, add the audience, read the reverberation time per band and find out how much absorber would fix it.

The RT60 Estimator on the Room Modes tab turns the room's dimensions and surfaces into a reverberation-time estimate, empty and occupied. The Treatment Sizing card underneath turns the gap between that estimate and a target into square metres of absorber.
Assign materials
- Enter the room in Room Dimensions first — the estimator uses its surface areas.
- In the RT60 Estimator, pick a material for each surface from its select: floor, ceiling and each wall. The library covers the usual suspects — painted and unpainted concrete or brick, drywall, plaster, glass, carpet, heavy curtain, acoustic foam in two thicknesses, Basotect, perforated panel with an air gap.
- Next to each surface its absorption coefficient (α) is shown.
- Read the RT60 per octave band. Values marked [ASSUMED] in the library are interpolated where no published coefficient exists — RoomSense flags them rather than hiding them.
Add the audience
An audience is absorption too. In Audience mode:
- Choose Seated or Standing.
- Enter the Density in people per square metre (0–10) and the Audience count (0–2000).
The estimate updates for the occupied room. Compare empty and occupied before deciding whether the room is "too live" — a full club and an empty club are different rooms.
Size the treatment
In Treatment Sizing, set a Target RT60 and pick the absorber Material; the card reports the additional absorber area in m² needed to reach the target. Treatment Suggestions lists suggested measures for the room. Use both as a first estimate for a conversation with a supplier, not as a purchase order.
Air absorption
High frequencies also die in the air itself. The Air Absorption card on the EQ & Delay tab uses the ISO 9613-1 model with humidity to predict HF loss over distance, and the Results tab reports HF Loss at Back Row at 4 kHz and 8 kHz for the current room.
Save the room
Press Save in the top bar to keep the dimensions, materials and targets as a venue profile. Export writes the profiles to a JSON file you can send to a colleague, who drops it in with Import. Profiles also sync across your own devices — see Account sync.
RT60 here is a Sabine-class estimate from dimensions and coefficients. A measured decay from REW or Smaart will differ, sometimes a lot, in rooms with coupled volumes or heavy furnishings. Predict here; measure there.
