Licences and paid tools
Which tools are paid, how a one-time Gumroad purchase becomes a licence on your account, and how activation, beta access and refunds work.

Paid tools are bought once, on Gumroad, and unlocked on your account with the licence key from the receipt. There is no subscription and nothing to renew. Prices are shown on each tool's page.

Buying a tool for the first time
- Buy the tool on Gumroad. The receipt contains your licence key.
- Follow the link on the receipt to
squaresmile.de/claim/<tool>— for example/claim/show-clock. - Enter your email, choose a password, paste the key, accept the terms and press Create account & activate.
Your account and the tool unlock together; the verification email is sent in the background. If you were already signed in when you opened the claim link, you are sent to the in-app activation page instead.
Activating a key on an existing account
- Verify your email first — activation requires it (see Your account).
- Open the tool from the dashboard. A tool you have not unlocked opens
the Activate page (
/license/activate/<tool>). - Paste the key from your Gumroad receipt and press Activate license.
The key is checked against Gumroad; the platform never stores your purchase email or payment details. One licence per tool per account. It appears under Active licences on the Account page, masked.

| Invalid or already used license key | Typo, or a key for a different tool. Copy it again from the receipt. |
| Could not reach Gumroad | Gumroad did not answer. Wait a moment and try again. |
| Activation already in progress | A double submit. Wait a few seconds and reload. |
Activation is limited to ten attempts per hour.
Beta access
We sometimes send invite links. Register through one and your account is flagged as a beta tester: you are treated as licensed for every tool, including unreleased ones. Invite links expire; an expired link still lets you register normally, without beta access. Beta access is per account, not per tool.
Refunds
The Terms (§ 7) set out the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers and when it expires early for digital products. To exercise it, write to support@squaresmile.de.
A licence is tied to the account it was activated on. Deleting the account removes the activation — contact support before you delete.
