What is BPM Forge?

A free, browser-based tempo tool for musicians. Tap along to any song to detect its BPM, run a metronome, keep per-song setlists, calculate delay times, and tune your instrument — all in one page.

How does tap-tempo detection work?

You tap the button or press Space in time with the music. BPM Forge averages the intervals between your taps to calculate the tempo and rates how steady your taps were: Steady, OK or Unsteady.

Does it have a metronome?

Yes — a Web Audio metronome with an accented beat 1, a count-in of 1, 2 or 4 bars, six time-signature presets plus custom signatures, and five click sounds or your own upload. Beat dots show your position in the bar.

Can I save setlists?

Yes. Build several setlists, each holding songs with their own BPM, time signature and a note. Lock a list during a show so nothing changes, and export or import setlists as JSON. See Keep a setlist of tempos.

What is the delay calculator for?

It converts the current BPM into delay times in milliseconds for whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth, dotted and triplet note values, with ÷ 4 and ÷ 8 columns for pre-delays and slap-backs. See Read delay times for a tempo.

Is there really a tuner too?

Yes. The Tuner tab is a chromatic tuner with a cents bar and strobe view, presets for guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, mandolin, banjo and drums, custom tunings and an in-tune chime. It uses your device microphone. See Tune an instrument.

Does the tuner upload my microphone audio?

No. Pitch is detected in your browser with the Web Audio API. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent anywhere.

Why did the metronome stop when I opened the Tuner?

By design: switching away from the Tapper stops the metronome so its clicks cannot leak into the tuner's microphone and throw off the reading.

Can I set a time signature that is not in the pills?

Yes. Type the beats per bar and the note value into the two small fields next to the pills (1–32 each). The bottom number changes the feel — 6/8 clicks twice as fast as 6/4.

Do my setlists sync between devices?

Yes, when you are signed in. Setlists, tempos, tuner and settings are stored with your account rather than in one browser. See Account sync.

Can TempoSense send a tempo here?
