RoomSense

The acoustics reference for live sound — room modes and RT60 from real materials, SPL and hearing-safety exposure, LUFS targets, delay alignment and psychoacoustics, all on-device.

RoomSense is the acoustics workbook you would carry if it fitted in a pocket. Type in a room and it computes the modes, the Schroeder frequency, an RT60 estimate from real absorption data and how much absorber it would take to fix it. Then it checks SPL against hearing-safety limits, meters LUFS against platform targets and aligns a delay speaker — one suite, shared room, no upload.

Who it is for

  • Live sound engineers who want to know the room before soundcheck and align the delay stack by numbers.
  • System techs — crossover references, air absorption, back-row prediction.
  • Production managers and venue staff responsible for exposure and dose limits.
  • Studio builders, students and educators — modes, RT60 and treatment with the physics visible.

What makes it different

  • One suite, shared context. The room dimensions feed the modes, the RT60 estimate and the Results tab.
  • Standards named. IEC 61672 weighting, ISO 9613-1 air absorption, ISO 7029 hearing loss, EBU R128 loudness, OSHA and NIOSH exposure rules.
  • Both exposure rules side by side — NIOSH 3 dB and OSHA 5 dB — with hearing-protection derating for real plugs and IEMs.
  • Venue profiles that save the room and follow your account.
  • A5 print sheets per tab, sized for the workbook.
  • Everything computes on-device. Nothing is uploaded.

RoomSense is free with a Squaresmile account. It predicts and references; it does not measure. Use it before REW or Smaart, not instead of them.
