Tap the beat. Own the tempo.

Tap along to any song and BPM Forge locks the tempo in a few beats. Then it counts you in, keeps every song of your set, turns the tempo into delay times and tunes your guitar. One tab, free, and it works right here on this page.

One tap. Your whole set follows.

Counted in. Every time.

One, two or four bars in, a loud first beat, then the band comes in together. No more “one, two, three, four” shouted over the PA.

Tap a song

Friday night, tempo-locked.

BPM Forge on a laptop: the last tempo reads 96 BPM; eight taps on the round TAP button bring it to 122, the confidence bar fills and says Steady, then the metronome starts and the beat dots count along.
A BPM Forge setlist on a phone: five songs, each with its BPM, time signature and a note — Neon Rivers at 122 BPM loaded, with its edit, move and delete buttons.

The real app

Eight taps. Steady. Counted in.

Straight out of BPM Forge: eight taps take the tempo from 96 to 122, the confidence bar reads Steady and the metronome starts. Your account adds the parts this page can’t keep: saved setlists, history, smoothing, range lock and haptics on your phone.

Two tools, one tab

Tune up. Without switching apps.

One tuner for everything on stage. Guitar, bass, ukulele and drums, plus violin, viola, cello, mandolin and banjo. Standard or alternate tunings, from Drop D and DADGAD to FACGCE. Pick an instrument and a tuning, then tap a string to hear it.

Straight answers.

Is BPM Forge really free?

Yes. The demo on this page needs no account. The full tool asks for a free Squaresmile account so your setlists and settings follow you between devices.

How does tap tempo work?

Tap the disc or press spacebar in time. BPM Forge averages the gaps between your taps and rates how steady they are with a confidence bar. Smoothing can be instant, average or weighted.

Can I save setlists?

Build as many as you like, each song with its own BPM, time signature and note. Lock a list for the show and export or import it as JSON.

What are the delay times for?

They turn your tempo into exact values from a whole note to 1/32, straight, dotted and triplet, in ms or Hz, so echoes and modulation sit in the groove. Tap a value to copy it.

Is there really a tuner too?

Yes, a full chromatic tuner with cents bar, strobe view and presets for guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, mandolin, banjo and drums. It uses your microphone.

Does it need installing?

No. It runs in any modern browser on laptop or phone, built on the Web Audio API with no dependencies and no tracking.
